MilenialPos.com – Ketua Tim Advokasi Pelaksanaan Vaksinasi Pengurus Besar Ikatan Dokter Indonesia (IDI), Iris Rengganis mengemukakan vaksin Sinovac belum dipastikan aman bagi kelompok usia anak-anak sebab masih dalam penelitian.
“Belum bisa dikatakan demikian (aman), masih penelitian,” katanya melalui sambungan telepon di Jakarta, Kamis pagi (25/3/2021).
Pernyataan tersebut disampaikan Iris terkait klaim perusahaan Sinovac bahwa vaksin COVID-19 mereka aman dan efektif untuk anak-anak usia 3-17 tahun.
Iris mengatakan vaksin untuk kelompok anak dan remaja saat ini telah memasuki tahap uji klinik fase 3. “Kita masih menunggu,” katanya.
Saat ini sejumlah pihak sedang meneliti keamanan vaksin COVID-19 untuk anak pada rentang usia di bawah 16 tahun.
“Saya juga pernah baca yang remaja ada salah satu vaksin yang 16 tahun mulainya dari remaja,” katanya.
Iris menambahkan penggunaan vaksin untuk kelompok anak harus dilakukan secara bertahap, karena usia anak rentan terhadap penularan COVID-19.
“Usia anak justru perlu divaksin, tapi untuk penelitian pun lebih hati-hati, makanya diambil usia aman 18 hingga 59 tahun,” katanya.
Direktur medis Sinovac, Gang Zeng, mengatakan uji klinis tahap awal dan menengah dari 550 lebih subjek menunjukkan bahwa vaksin tersebut akan memicu respons kekebalan.
Dua penerima vaksin usia tiga tahun dan enam tahun mengalami demam tinggi sebagai respons terhadap vaksin.
“Sementara subjek uji coba lainnya mengalami gejala ringan. Ini menunjukkan bahwa vaksin itu aman dan akan menghasilkan respons imun yang berpotensi berguna terhadap SARS-CoV-2, tentu sangat disambut baik,” kata Zeng dalam siaran pers, Senin (22/3).
