Diadaptasi berdasarkan franchise video game ikonik besutan Capcom, Resident Evil akan tayang pada 9 September 2021.
Dikutip dari Screenrant, Resident Evil disutradarai oleh Johannes Roberts, sutradara dari 47 Meters Down dan The Strangers: Prey at Night.
Laporan dari Gamespot, Roberts pernah mengatakan bahwa dia “benar-benar ingin kembali ke dua game awal Resident Evil”.

Pengumuman bahwa syuting film sudah selesai diungkap melalui akun Twitter Sony Pictures. Postingan disertai dengan gambar dengan clapboard film di sebelah layar televisi.
Clapboard memperlihatkan logo film, di samping lambang ikonik Umbrella Corporation yang langsung dapat dikenali. Film Resident Evil yang dirilis pada September sepertinya cukup tepat dalam menyambut musim Halloween di Oktober setelahnya.
Pesan tersirat pada teaser seolah-olah menggambarkan bahwa film adaptasi dari game Resident Evil ini bakal “super menakutkan”.
